In order to meet these deadlines, we helped develop an airport master plan, provide a basic design for a new terminal building and its airside and landside infrastructure, as well as technical assistance during the detailed design and construction phase. NACO also engaged with key government stakeholders to obtain the essential approvals.
The new building was required to handle 14 million annual passengers in the first phase, so functionality, efficiency and expandability were central to our design. Our flexible solution means that the new terminal will ultimately be capable of handling 80 million annual passengers and 1.4 million tonnes of cargo per year, allowing for expansion in line with forecasted growth.
Our design works also included a 4,000 parking space multi-storey parking garage, access roads and kerbs, the airside access vehicle gate, consolidation centre, all associated airside works including 28 contact positions, seven remote stands and taxiways, landside engineering works and a CAPEX estimate for the airport.
The new terminal facility at Viracopos International Airport now provides passengers with a state-of-the-art airport experience – all delivered successfully and within the timeframe.
