Emirates deployed a one-off A380 aircraft to Colombo airport Sri Lanka

The aircraft landed on Monday 14 August at Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) Katunayake helping Sri Lanka and the airport achieve an aviation milestone.

The aircraft was deployed to celebrate BIA’s recently resurfaced and upgraded runway, which was realized earlier this year by a smooth collaboration between AASL, CATIC, NACO-ECL and all other stakeholders including the airlines, air traffic control, fire brigade and ground handlers.

The one-off A380 flight operated as EK654 from Dubai, replacing the B777 aircraft usually deployed by Emirates on flights to Sri Lanka.
